Richard Nixon
I believe that when you do not look at Watergate overall Richard Nixon had a positive impact on the US. He wasn't the most social or presentable president and he does have his flaws but he actually did some good for our country aside from Watergate. Better relations with China, easing of tensions with the Soviets, ending the Vietnam War and restoring order in the US was among the accomplishments that Nixon contributed to which has a long lasting positive impact on the US. We would not have the relations with China that we have today without Nixon. He showed Americans that not all Communists are terrible. He opened a huge market for American businesses which is a large part of our economy today. Better relations with China allowed American business expansion which is a postivie thing. Easing tensions with the Soviets during the Cold War was a great thing. Having signed the treaty to stop ICBM production; this lessened Americans tensions. Americans could relax and not fear of being bombed. This also in a way slowed down the arms race. Ending the Vietnam War was a positive thing, it stopped the slaughter of American troops for a war we shouldn't have been in. Also bringing order in a time of chaos was a positive thing. Kent State however, took it a bit too far but at least getting the idea of order after all the chaos of the sixties was a good plan. For these reasons, it has made Richard Nixon a positive factor for America.

ERA
I think that they ERA was a good piece of legislation however I don't feel that certain aspects should apply to women. They shouldn't be allowed entry to battlefields, we need women to keep populating the world and if they die that would be a huge problem. I think that it should be brought back because men and women are similar in almost every aspect of life. Mentally there is nothing women can't do that a man can. Physically there is a difference though. They shouldn't be discriminated from jobs and education because that is totally unfair. I am a firm believer in equality. The ERA should be brought back in regrads to jobs and schools and certain parts of the military.

Jackie Robinson
6. I feel that Jackie Robinson should be able to be ranked as one of the greatest civil rights figures. He certainly isn't the greatest but he should be up there with MLK and Rosa Parks. Jackie Robinson did an unprecedented thing by joining the white baseball league. Robinson took verbal, emotion and physical abuse from teams, players, fans and even teammates. While taking all of this, he never argued back, he never started violence. He just kept playing baseball. Robinson in a way practiced peaceful protests by turning the other way to racial comments and just palying baseball. He never backed down to his oposition. For these reasons, he should be considered to be ranked as one of the great civil rights figures among MLK.

Ending of the butter battle
The Yooks and Zooks were about to drop the big boy boomeroo,
Until there was a comment by a man named Lou
Why are you goinng to fight?
Neither of you are right
Toast is delicious of either side,
Tell your people not to hide
Both sides realized he was right
and that they weren't going to put up this great fight
Now the Yooks and Zooks live in Harmony,
Instead of commiting arseny
